Naloxone

A Pharmacology term on the RCIS & RCES exam blueprint, defined for cath lab and EP clinicians.

Opioid antagonist reversing fentanyl-induced respiratory depression. Given in small titrated doses (0.04–0.4 mg IV) to avoid abrupt reversal of analgesia and acute pain/agitation; duration of action is shorter than fentanyl, so recurrence of respiratory depression must be monitored.
