Vascular closure devices

A Post-Procedural Care term on the RCIS & RCES exam blueprint, defined for cath lab and EP clinicians.

Collagen plug-based devices, suture-mediated devices, and clip-based devices all achieve faster ambulation than manual compression alone but carry device-specific complication profiles (e.g., plug embolization, suture-related infection) and have specific contraindications (e.g., avoid in a calcified or small-caliber vessel for some plug-based devices, or in groin infection).
